Jerry's Story
After I left Lachute in 1970 I went to work in Sudbury for a year. Then I moved to Paris Ontario where I met my wife. We were married in 1973. Kathy and I moved to Moncton NB in 1974. I went to college in Moncton for my first year and then transferred to Mt Allison University in Sackvile NB for two more years majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Kathy was the elementary art consultant for Moncton School district. After my third year I decided to go into theology so we moved to a college in Alberta where I spent three more years and graduated with an honors degree in Humanities majoring in Theology with minors in History, English and Socialsciences. I worked as a Pastor for 3 year years in PEI. In 1983 Kathy and I and our three daughters moved to a university in Michigan where I went to gradschool. During that time our 4th child was born,a son. After grad school I accepted a position as a pastor of a University Church at Michigan State University and also was a chaplin at MSU. I began writing and putting on training seminars nationally and internationally on the topic of University Campus Ministry /Chaplincy Ministry. I have been to 21 countries and spoken at conventions where there were people for leadership training in campus ministry from 60 countries. Clinical Pastoral Psychotherapy / Marriage and Family Therapy and then augmented that with classes from Harvard, Emory and Menninger as well as a year long seminar
in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy under psycharist Dr. Clay Whitehead. We have been here now for 17 years. Our four children are grown up, one is married, she got her B.A.from Andrews University in Michigan then her masters degree in political science from Denver University Graduate School of International Studies. Her husband's law degree is in International law. They are both Diplomats for the US Government and work abroad in an American Embassy. Our second daughter graduated from Andrews university with two degrees- languages and international business. She works in the investment world in Denver, Colorado for a large International Investment Company. For the last two years she was top producer for the whole United States for the company she works for. Our youngest daughter who graduated from college last year is living in England and working there. Our son now 24, is finished his B.A. in business and finance in December. I continue to work at the college church doing family ministries and I travel some putting on seminars on marriage and family issues. Kathy who finshed her masters degree in education at University of Nebraska in 1996 is teaching in a Lincoln Public School. We love to travel, read and meet people and eat international foods.
