Lynda's Story
I, Lynda Jim Fanning, was born in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas on 09/26/1942. Actually I was born in a rural area by the name of Bug Tussle. When I was 5 years old, my father moved his family to Refugio TX (near Corpus). I entered 1st grade there at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic School. Due to a back injury, my father moved his family back to Ladonia and decided to farm once more. However, as many farmers, he was not successful, so he moved his family to DeKalb TX where he went to work at the Red River Arsenal. Due to lay-offs in 1953, he went to Dallas seeking work. We moved to Irving on June 1, 1953. The rest is history... I graduated from Irving High School.
I now have two children, Caren and Jeffery, and two grandchildren, Jessica and Ben...Expand for more
jamin. The two grands belong to my son. My daughter didn't bless me with any. I've been single for 28 years and enjoy doing what I want to do.
I went to Draughon's Business College (remember Draughon's?) after high school. I have retired from Mutual of Omaha and Dallas County.
I lived in California and Arizona for several years. California is a pretty state, but was so glad to get back to Texas. Just an old Texas girl... you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the girl. Bought an old-fashion home in a small town 3 years ago and love it, love it!! Leaving DeKalb was a sad day in my life. I don't think I actually recovered from it for many years. But I am now back in Northeast Texas... it isn't DeKalb, but I'm happy.
