Jerry's Story
Life
Thirty-six years in pharmaceutical sales and sales management, three great kids, four grandchildren plus three step grandchildren, divorced in 1986 and have not remarried, living in Edinburg, Texas after having lived in Houston, Corpus Christi, New Orleans, San Antonio, Victoria, and Lima, Ohio. Regret not having kept in touch with more of the old crowd but never regretted moving on.....
School
Had a pretty good time in High School--college notes to follow. Great Band trips: State Fair in Dallas, Buccaneer Days in Corpus Christi, Pigskin Jubilee, solo and ensemble contests. Peggy Mungerson(the best) and the Thespians/Golden Dragons: the State Finals with Hamlet, Teahouse and getting that damn Jeep on and off stage in the old auditorium (HOW DID the old wooden stage hold up?????)and all the one act play contests. Key Club and the trip to National Convention in Dallas and being so sick with Strep throat that I missed a live performance of Justin Wilson. Hunting rabbits by spotlight. Other activities without lights on the same country roads. Being a constant source of irritation to Tom West (HE started it before I was even a high school student!). What can be said about Myers Hudson?? He managed to fight Mr West to get us a few great trips to the State Fair in Dallas, Buccaneer Days in Corpus Christi, etc--We managed in spite of him... Joe Flores: Great teacher and friend--God what a loss. Mr...Expand for more
s. Bennett: the best history teacher I ever had(including college profs).
College notes: Baugh Hall--no A/C, steam heat, bare concrete floors but a great bunch of guys and only a couple of assholes. Concert Band tour throughout central and south Texas---caught a cold and ended up with Mono and missed almost three weeks of classes in addition to what I had already missed on the tour and being sick. Still run into some of the guys occassionally: Higginbotham is a Baptist preacher in Fredricksburg, Currier is a high tech mega computer installer/trouble shooter internationally(now retired), have seen Bee Bop a couple of times, Howland is still built like a brick shithouse and teaches in Rio Hondo or Harlingen, even ran into the former head of the Phych department at King's Inn a couple of years ago. Got married second semester my Sophomore year and pretty much lost touch with most of my RHS friends what with working full time and going to school. First kid was born the day of registration my Senior year, came home from the hospital the day classes started. Did manage to get to two of the the Cultural series concerts and what luck: The Fifth Dimension just as their first hit, "Up, up, and away/Beautiful Balloon" hit the charts and later Gladys Knight and the Pips. Not bad considering what a redneck I was.
Planned to go into personnel management but started in sales after graduation and am still selling.
