Jerry's Story
Life
I married my high school sweetheart, Sharon Lawrence,in 1960 after spending a year on an Aleutian island some 55 years ago. We've raised 3 great kids and have 1 grand daughter. We have all lived in Arizona now for 35 years after spending many years in corporate life moving often. We spend as much time as we can treking around the great places in Arizona and the west in our RV, mainly looking for cool weather and good fishing in the summer.
Military
I ran the ET shop, made ETN2 before leaving the "T". Made 2 WesPac cruises in 60 and 62. I shipped off from White Beach, Okinawa on a emergency leave in March of 62.
Career
Worked in a small electronics company as a electronics engineer in Richmond for 13 years. Went from Engineering into sales and moved to Newark Ohio covering communications companies in 7 states between Memphis, TN to Buffalo, NY. , AZ. Traveled in 49 of the fifty states and most of the Asian countries in the Western Pacific. Worked for companies in Boston, MA, Ottawa, ON, Tokyo, Japan, Hsin-Chu, Taiwan and ran my own company for some time. Closed my business down in 2006 and tried to retire.
The Pastor of our church suggested I take a job as Executive Team Leader and Business Manager with the Lutheran Church District Office in Irvine CA. There we provided resources for 300 churches and 200 schools in Southern CA, Southern NV and all of Arizona. In 2011 I retired again, this time for real. Now serving on the BOD for Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. We help a lot of people in need, look us up on the web, LSS-SW.org.
Retired now, no more traveling around the world, Try to spend as much time as I can trout fishing and RV'n.
Need to go to North Dakota for dinner sometime. The only state out of all 50 that I have never visited.
