Jerry's Story
Life
Though friends might describe me as quiet and shy, (more quiet than shy), I love getting up in front of people. Three of my interests inclulde Karaoke, public speaking and acting.
I joined Toastmasters International in 1973. I am VP Public Relations at club #788, San Bernardino, VP Public Membership, Club 943249 - Fontana Leaders, and VP PR, Club 909, Redlands. I have served all offices numerous times, Area Governor and Division Governor twice.
However, I have a special interest in Publicity and Membership.`Any newspaper article you see about Toastmasters meetings, the Inland Empire Debating Society, or the Highland Senior Repertory Players, a senior acting group community access stations, were likely articles I sent from my computer.
Toastmastes gave me nuch needed confidence and an interest in public speaking. For four years in the 1990's, I started and ran the District 12 Speaker's Bureau. I booked 400 speakers for local organizations in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. I spoke on Dyslexia and ADD.
My acting activities included 2006 - The Rabbi in "Fiddler on the Roof" and the wonderfully neurotic Mr. Sawyer in "Miracle on 34th Street", with the Fontana Mummers. Currently I am with a senior drama grou...Expand for more
p in Highland and in Rancho Cucamonga. In Rancho Cucamonga, I am in the "Sliver Fox Follies", a series of songs from famous war and romantic movies and musicals from the 1930's - 1950's.
I have lived in San Bernardino all my life. However, two and a half years ago, I moved to Fontana, 17 miles west. I moved to one of the state-of-the-art senior complexes. I love Fontana. Fontana, though only slightly smaller than San Bernardino, (180,000 people compared to 200,000 people, has more of small town feel.) I always wanted to live somewhere downtown. My rent is much lower than before and the apartment is much better constructed than any I have lived in. It is only 5 years old.
I have joined the Fontana Chamber of Commerce, am a coach for the local Toastmasters Club. I will continue my activities in San Bernardino.
I am not as worried now about being unemployed, but would like to find a part-time clerical position within 20 miles of Fontana.
I worked in public relations and as a substitute teacher. I am looking for a clerical position where I can utilize my computer, telephone etiquette, and office skills.
I am in excellent health and work 25 minutes on the Treadmill every morning.
Enjoy hearing from fellow Classmates.
