Jesse's Story

Life.. After leaving Wilcox (barely graduating) I got drafted into the Army (that sucked!). I got stationed at Fort Lewis (I lucked out not going to Vietnam, others weren't so lucky) and when I completed my two year obligation I stayed on in the Seattle area. I got out of the Army one day, started a new job with the Federal Government the next day and the following weekend I got married (don't like to waste time!). I quickly realized government work in the US wasn't the most exciting so I volunteered to go work overseas. Best decision I ever made other than marrying Rhonda (had to get that in!). We lived in Korea - Hawaii - Japan - Germany - Italy (I could have died in Italy but the allure of being closer to the grandkids was too strong a pull). Living overseas was awesome! I thought I knew about other countries and cultures from watching educational TV (yeah right!) but quickly found to truly understand a culture you must live it. I LOVED IT ALL! From the crowded streets of Seoul (4 years in Korea) to the beautiful ...Expand for more
beaches of Hawaii (1 year), into the Ginza of Tokyo (4.5 years in Japan) all the way to the Alps in Garmisch (2.5 years in Germany) and viewing the Island of Capri (7 years in Italy) - our whole family loved every moment! From walking through the ruins of Pompeii, to climbing the Zugspitze in Germany, sailing around the Greek Islands or just walking the night life through the clubs of Roppongi in Tokyo - we did it all and every moment was a blast. After 25 plus years living overseas I came back to the USA and settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Been married since 1974 to Rhonda Heaton and have two great kids, our daughter is a Chemical Engineer teaching in Albuquerque and our son owns Amore Neapolitan Pizzeria(s) in the Albuquerque area with his wife and two boys. I retired from the GOV in 2008 and work as a consultant part time now. We enjoy our semi-rural lifestyle of New Mexico and our main goal in life is to enjoy and spoil our grandkids. Life has been good - beats the alternative! -Jesse Albuquerque, New Mexico
