Jesse's Story
After graduating from Jordan High in 1964, I immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps,a life time dream.I went to Vietnam 1n 1965, three days before the Watts riots began. After serving thirteen months in Vietnam, I returned home on September 6,1966. In February 1968, six months before I was due to be discharged, I got orders to go back to vietnam.This was a no,no but the only way I could get out was to re-enlist so I re-enlisted for three more years and was stationed at Marine Barracks at the Long Beach Naval Station, a great location because I was home. om the Marines but my heart will forever be with the Marines. I began my Law enforcement career 1n May of 1972 with L.A. School Police Dept and remaind there until 1979. After a brief break a continued my career with Compton School Police where I became a Sergeant in 1987 and on July 1, 2009, I will be retiring after more than thirty years in law enforcement. I have three grown children, seven grandchildren and one great-grand daughter and she is a doll. The remaining episode of my life will be traveling the U.S.(since vietnam, I have no desire to travel over any seas) and spenting time with my grandchildren.
