Jessi's Story
So, it's about time that I updated here. Right? I began a new job in August. I was laid off from my executive assistant position at HomeRoute/TrueV Productions for six months due to the poor economy. Where did I end up?
Temple Beth Emeth in Ann Arbor.
How did I ever end up in a place of worship? It was another one of those moments where I debated sending my resume, and after a week, decided what the heck. Who would have thought that someone with a legal secretary/paralegal background would end up working in a synagogue? Until now, all of my positions have improved upon the last. Taking on sight education into my successive positions. From one law office to another, learning new areas of law, from real estate law to real estate marketing. But from where do I draw previous experience from now?
I love my job. I am the assistant to the rabbi, cantor, and president of the board. The senior staff is wonderful, and the support staff is fabulous. I have been learning more in the short time I've been here than I have in a long while. It is taking some getting use to working full time again, as I haven¿t done this since Coli...Expand for more
n was born, but I am enjoying it. It means more financial security, and long-term employment.
Colin is doing well. He started kindergarten this year! He has really been enjoying school. In fact, he is upset every Friday, because they don¿t have class on Fridays. We¿re dealing with his ADHD, which tends to drive me crazy, but it¿s a work in progress.
Meara just got over shingles. And I am just getting over the chicken pox that I caught from her shingles. Thanks to all of you non-sharers back in grade school!
Seriously, though, Meara is growing into a very loving, considerate, and authoritarian of a girl. She and Colin are the best siblings I¿ve ever seen. Sure, they have their moments, but in the long run, they love each other to no end. It is amazing.
Aside from all of the above, other things aren¿t going well. Jeff and I have been separated since November, 2008 - in the beginnings of divorce, much to my dismay. So my life is upside down, and despite the number of blessings and prayers that have been answered in a relatively short time, this is something that will weigh heavily on me for a long time to come.
