Jessica's Story

Life After graduation in May 1998, I went to work at Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver with plans to start school at Central Missouri State in the Fall. After deciding to take the first semester off to save up money, I met my husband Nathan who also worked at the park. We got engaged near Thanksgiving and were married in August 1999 in a small chapel in Golden. I started school at the University of Colorado at Denver in January 1999 and graduated in May 2004 with a degree in International Business. I worked for 5 years as a supervisor at Super Target in Colorado. Nathan and I love to travel and take trips every chance we get....we've been in 28 states, to France, and to Aruba together since we've been married. We have a cat named Nima (she is spoiled since she is our only child). We moved to Las Vegas in Sept '05 and love it since there is always something to do and friends/family continually visit...I work in the marketing department at a casino. School Now that I look back, I really appreciate that I went to school with a great group of small town people and that we all really got a chance to grow up together and make lasting friendships through the years...I kind of miss going to the store and running into students, friends, teachers, neighbors and stopping to say hello to one another...graduates from CCHS have something special and I just wish I had realized it sooner! I did spend a year in Fontainebleau France as an exchange student when I found my inner self and began to appreciate life more. Even though I was away from home it was the best year of my life! In high school I was involved in many activities including cheerleading, choir, marching band, concert band, jazz band, theatre, folk dancing, color guard, Model United Nations Club, and learning French. Through these I met many great people which I have now lost touch with and would love to regain contact with. If I could do it all over again, I would take more pictures and cherish each moment to look back on in the future more than I did! College In May 2004 I graduated from CU-Denver (UCD) with a degree in International Business...my only regret is that I was one point away from graduating with honors...but-oh well! I worked hard, studied a lot, and wrote way too many papers to get my degree...I made some great friends along the way a...Expand for more
nd hope we are able to keep in touch! Workplace I have held some pretty interesting jobs since High School, considering I worked full time to put myself through school. My senior year of high school I worked at Paper Warehouse, a party supply store and my favorite thing there was to make helium balloon bouquets. After high school I worked at Elitch Gardens the last season before it became a Six Flags as well as the first season it was part of the franchise. This is where I met my husband, Nathan and where we started working together...we have worked at the same places ever since until our move to Vegas when I decided to venture into the casino industry! At Elitches, I worked in guest relations and then also helped to get the costumed Looney Tunes character program up and running...that was great...but the costumes were very hot! I got to play both Daffy Duck and the Tazmanian Devil in the show which was a unique experience. I have a lot of respect for characters in shows at amusement parks now! I spent a little over a year working at the Denver Zoo both in the gift shops and driving the tour tram...I even got a chance to learn to drive the miniature train which was an honor! I worked at Super Target in Superior for almost 4 years. I started as a cashier and worked my way up to be a Guest Service Team Leader. I have met some great people and built some friendships I know I will have forever. I transfered to a smaller Target in Longmont in September of 2004 in the same position to be closer to home. When we moved to Vegas in 2005, I began working in the slot club at the Flamingo Casino on the Las Vegas Strip! It's very exciting to work in a fast paced busy place where every day is different and I get to meet people from everywhere in the world! I finally work somewhere I can utilize my French language skills again from time to time and start to get back to the efficiency level where I was 8 years ago! I transfered to Harrah's in Sept of 1007 when I was promoted to Assistant Manager of the slot club where I was challenged every day and learning more and more about the casino marketing department. In February 2011 I transfered to work in a Northern Nevada Regional Marketing Management position, spending a couple days a week in Reno and a couple days each week working at 2 casinos in South Lake Tahoe.
