Jessica's Story
I graduated from Longwood College in 1994 and received my Master's Degree from there in Dec 1995. I taught hs in Spotsylvania for 2 years, then married in 1998 and moved to AZ. I taught junior high for 2 years and spent about 8 months teaching at Phoenix Children's Hospital before I quit to be a stay at home mom to my oldest son, born Feb 2001. Another son arrived in Oct 2003 and another in April 2006. I divorced in Aug 2006 and went back to teaching in August of 2007. I am now teaching special education at a high school in Gilbert, AZ and raising my 3 sons. Life can be kind of crazy around here at...Expand for more
times. My oldest son was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 1/2, so on top of raising a family on my own, working full-time, and taking care of a house, we have a disability to contend with. There are days I feel overwhelmed and days when I feel truly blessed. And some days when I feel both. But at the end of the day I thank God for my family, my friends, and for somehow always providing for us. As the song goes, "Life ain't always beautiful, but it's a beautiful ride."
