Jim's Story
Grab a pillow & blanket...you're in for a boring look at the life of Jim Allen...
After graduation, I went to Big Bend for a couple of years then moved to Spokane to go to Eastern Wa. Univ. Graduated from there in 1993 (yup...I did the "5-Year-Party-Plan"). Received a BA in Radio/Television Management. I was a DJ for about 8 or 9 years then moved into Promotions & Marketing.
While at Eastern, I met my wife, Theresa and we were married in 1995 after she finished her Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. (I'm proud to say that I got to be her first and longest-running patient...and I'm not cured yet). We have 2 uber-handsom boys, ages 9 & 11. Luckily for them, they take after their mother.
I finally left the Radio industry and went to work for Sprint as a Regional Marketing Coordinator. Did that for 4 long years and hated it. I took a summer off then went to work in Dec. '06 as an International Event ...Expand for more
Manager & Meeting Planner for a global company based in Spokane. For 2 years, I traveled the world and saw many great parts of Europe & Asia...many times. What a great job!!! but the heavy traveling took it's toll on me. I have M.S. and the travel was wearing me down so in April I retired from that. Now, I'm a stay-home Dad and going stir-crazy.... I mean...loving it.
My brother, Craig, still lives in Ephrata and owns Hometown Apppliance & Radio Shack with my mother. Craig's wife, Kim Allen (Miller - class of 86), was elected Grant County Clerk last year and I did all the graphic design work for all her campaign material & advertising...despite that, she won the election anyway. Good for her.
If you're still reading this, you must be nearing sleep by now. ...or you grew up in Ephrata so you're used to monotany because you sat through Mr. Fletcher's algebra. Hope to see you in July.
Jim
