Jim's Story
I majored in Industrial Design at KU, where I met my wife, formerly Susie Holt, a William Chrisman class of `64 grad. We were married in September 1967 and ten years later had a daughter, Jaime, who graduated from NKCHS in 1985. Steve Thompson of our class was one of her favorite teachers. I worked various jobs in the KC area before going to work for King Radio of Olathe in 1981, designing and certifying avionics installations in aircraft. King Radio eventually became Honeywell Aerospace, and I was transferred to Seattle as an engineer to work in their airline division. The disaster of 9/11 ruined the airline industry, so I ended up taking an early retirement. it. In 2011 our first (and only) grandson was born to my daughter, who lives in KC, so we recently returned to KC to be near them.
This is a copy of the story I put on our class reunion site, nkcmo1964.org. There's also a social media group for our class, which you can probably find by including reunion in your search. I'm working with the reunion committee to find lost classmates, so don't be surprised if my name shows up as a visitor to your profile. If you need to contact me on email, try my name without spaces, and I'm on an att mail server with a .net suffix.
Lately, I've been going at noon on the last Thursday of every month to lunch at Paul & Jack's restaurant in Northtown. There are a bunch of the Northtown guys that show up, so if you're in the area, stop by and say hello.
