Jim's Story

Life is a long story. With lots of sudden twists and turns, and the occasional cliffhanger where our hero clings to the edge of losing everything, only to claw back once again. Such is life. I'll save you the gory bits, and just give a glimpse. Classmates likes to include me in the Lompoc HS class of 80, as well as the Knob Noster class of 80. To be clear, I only attended LHS for four months in my junior year (fall '78. I'm afraid I won't remember very many people from Lompoc, but a few to be sure, I'll certainly remember. Still, forgive my memory, it ain't what it used to be. From Lompoc, I went to Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri for two weeks. Then on to Knob Noster High School where I stayed till I graduated in January 1980. After Knob Noster, I started college at CMSU in March and proceeded to spent the next ten years in three states: Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. I changed my college major twice, and did not graduate till '90, with a degree in Geography (minor in Political Science). I served as CMSU Residental Hall Association President, and CMSU Geography Club/Gamma Theta Upsilon President. I worked in all sorts of jobs. I almost got married once, the wedding was to be on the 4th of July but was called off two days before. One of those twists and turns indeed. As the 90's came I was working on a Masters in Geography at University of Nebraska at Omaha, concentrating on Climatology and Remote Sensing. And then, the Cold War c...Expand for more
ame to an end. With the fall of the Soviet Union, my Dad's job was abruptly ended. He was fortunate to be able to get another position in the company in commercial aircraft in Seattle. However, he was recovering from a heart attack, and I had to take care of the move for my parents. So I left to the Seattle area, and spent the 90's there. I worked in the software industry. I did get married in the 90's, she was from Omaha. We were divorced in 2000, and had no kids. And then...a new decade, a new century, a time to move on. And so I left to come back to Montana (I had tried to come back in the late '80's but the economy was awful). The result was a new home, a new career, a new wife, a new daughter, and four older (now adult) step sons. Working in technical service and management, and writing quotes and proposals for the salesmen. Almost bought a stake in one company, and had a short lived partnership in another. Ah, the stories I could tell... Time marches on, and now a second divorce is over a decade behind, my daughter prepares to enter high school this fall, and my health has deteriorated enough that I'm unable to work. Life is but a dream and tempus fugit! Where will I go when I next move on? Seems like I'm overdue. I've rambled on more than enough, shared more than you wanted to know too, most likely. I'm kinda like that anymore, feast or famine when I type something. I hope life has/is treating you all well ! May the long story go on...
