Jim's Story
It's hard to believe that it's been 50 years since leaving LHS! That is amazing to me. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but so far I'm still kicking. Here's the Cliff Notes summary of my story.
Family;
Married Nancy McDonald (class of '68) in 1976. Still going strong 40+ years later
3 Children (girl, boy, girl): All Florida Gators, all Married Florida Gators, 2 live in Lakeland, 1 lives in Orlando.
2 Grandsons: anxious to become Florida Gators
Education:
BS in Civil Engineering (Univ. of Fla)
Master's in Environmental Engineering (Univ. of Fla)
Master of Public Health (Univ of So. Fla)
PhD (Univ of So Fla)
Career:
Environmental Engineer...after considering other options, I came back to work with my father's company. Been there/here my whole career. Area of concentration has been water r...Expand for more
esources and public health interactions. After 44 years my son, Jay, now runs the business so I can finish my career focusing on technical matters and mentoring younger engineers.
Factoids:
Both my girls married engineers
Both my girls look like their Mom...in fact it's spooky how much my oldest looks like Nancy
I'm the oldest sibling and still working full time; both my younger brothers are retired/semi-retired. What's up with that!?
My son lives within half a mile of where I grew up...despite the fact when growing up he purposed to move away (which he did) and never come back (but he did). Similar story with oldest daughter.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up...although we may have to play the music a tad lower than past reunions in order to hear the conversation. :-)
