Jim's Story
I used to take for granted, my closeness to Newark, when I was still living and working in the Bay Area. When I retired a few years ago, we moved about 3 hours away from Newark. Now I savor the opportunity to come home whenever I can. Thankfully my parents still own my childhood home, and not out of posterity, but complacency, it is still unchanged from my school days. e that the builder installed on the wall of the kitchen, still uses the same phone number. My artwork from M.D. Silva and NHS, still hang on the wall in the hallway. The wood paneling and Z-Brick my parents bought at Kmart and put up in the living room and kitchen in 1975, are still there. That was the last time they did any kind of home improvement. Whenever I go home to Newark, it's like stepping back in time. They say "you can never go home again" but for now, I still can, and I am thankful!
