Jim's Story
I always wanted to be a draftsman when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. After Highschool, I joined the Navy, leaving my home behind. ip, the USS Mars. The Mars was home ported in Oakland Ca, but was in "dry dock" in Alameda. The first night I arrived there, it was cold and rainy. Since the ship was
under repair we slept on a barge next to it. It was cramped quarters as i shared a room the size of a normal bedroom with 9 other guys. The snoring was horrid, not to mention the smells.

I went to Guam, and got caught in a Typhoon. The storm made us go 800 miles out of our way to avoid it, but we still felt it's effects. The ship was tossed around quite a bit in 30 foot seas. We lost a crane off of the ship and some cargo, and my shop was a wreck.
