Jim's Story

So...what's happening with me since CDO.... I'm married to a wonderful woman, Patty, and we're about to celebrate our Silver Anniversary. We have two great children...my oldest, Daniel, is a pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Ca. Daniel received his Master's in Divinity last year from Azusa Pacific University, and he is married to a wonderful woman, Melissa, for the past three years. Our daughter, Kristin, is a communications major at the University of San Diego, where she is will receive her Bachelor's degree later this year. Kristin is also a licensed optician, and she works at Lenscrafters in San Diego, where she leads the Gift of Sight program for the area. She loves living in SD (who wouldn't!), and is still single and enjoying her life very much. My wife Patty is a Graduate Gemologist, and her passion is working with precious gemstones. She has a very successful business, and loves getting to play around with diamonds all day. I have spent most of the last 30 years working in the convenience retail business, first with National Convenience Stores in Arizona, Nevada, and California, and most recently (the past 15 years) with ARCO ampm, which is now a part of British Petroleum. eld a variety of management positions throughout my career, and my current job is that of Senior Buyer for Convenience Retail at BP. I spend my days making purchasing decisions for our 1500+ retail outlets throughout the country, and it's a very exciting and rewarding position. In contrast to my days back in high school, I've settled down quite a bit. I actually went back to school, spending most of the 90's and into this century working on my own degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. Not a big surprise....took me a long time....you all know how much I loved going to class back at CDO, but happily I managed to get it done. I was sorry not to be able to attend the 30th reunion, but I travel quite a bit in my position, and just wasn't able to make the event. I saw many pictures of old friends....it was great to see and hear about the twists and turns so many of you have had on your life journey. I hope to connect with the group next time...until then, be well, and feel free to say hi. We still live in Southern California....been here for the past 20 years, although we do get back to Tucson to visit my mom from time to time....Tucson sure has changed over the years! Best to all....
