Jim's Story
Jim is from Kankakee, Illinois. His schools include Kankakee High School, graduating in 1966. He then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Pre-Law), graduating in 1970. He was in the US Army from 1970-1973. While in the Army he got a MA in International Relations from USC. After the Army he went to law school at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.
After graduating law school, he began work at Cousineau McGuire in Minneapolis as an attorney in 1979. He retired at the end of 2015 as a partner but remains of counsel at that firm.
He was married to Kimberley Haigh who passed away in 2006 from pancreatic cancer. Jim has one daughter, Maddy, by Kimberley, who recently graduated magna cum laude from Miami...Expand for more
of Ohio with a BFA, majoring in Graphic Design. Jim remarried in 2013 to Judy Haigh, who has two grown children of her own.
Jim's interests include sports, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Vikings, and Twins. Also, he follows the fighting Illini & the Chicago Cubs. He is very much into music and he likes Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Adele, Mumford & Sons, and all classical (except opera!). Movies he likes include Godfather I & II, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, The Thin Man series,Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Rocky Horror, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit prequel set, the Bond series and the Back to the Future Trilogy.
