Jim's Story

Life I graduated WSU in 1992 in Environmental Science and promptly married the girl of my dreams (she was also my campaign manager for ASWSU President - go figure) We eventually settled in Seattle, then North Bend, with me doing environmental compliance chemistry and Vicki a PR manager at a firm in town, with both of us volunteering for various political causes and campaigns. In 1999 we decided try a new adventure and moved to Los Angeles – same work, lots more sun! It’s amazing how something as simple as sunshine and the freedom to hike or bike year-round can give so much energy and change your entire outlook. nvironmental policy and ethics, Vicki’s to do publicity and PR for celebrities. As luck (and persistence) would have it, this led to us partnering with Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys to create an environmental education foundation. We spent our time channeling celebrities’ environmental activism toward changing individuals’ behaviors and pressuring politicians and businesses to go green. After five years in LA, the fast pace and parties started to get a little old. So we moved as far away from that lifestyle as possible - to Yellowstone National Park. I'd always wanted to work preserving one of our national treasures, so now I'm the Director of Environmental Affairs for the park. Some day we'll get back to Washington, but this is pretty cool right now.
