Jim's Story
It has been an interesting couple of months, I am single again after 26 years. My good friend and fellow alum, Dave Stochl suffered a stroke in jan( he is recovering well,) and I made a hasty retirement from the fire dept due to city budget troubles--it was to be 29 years in july, when I was planning on retiring.
My brother Pat left at the same time,he had 30 years and was shooting for july, also. We both worked in Vallejo.
So,massive changes in a short time, wow. Dave's stroke made me re-evaluate my life and how I did things. No more putting off til tomorrow,no more hesitation, live life to the fullest. Planning a great retirement vacation with brother Pat and friends to Belize. Opened a motorcycle dynotuning business at Infineon Raceway. And will continue to race my bikes at Bonneville salt flats until I get that 200 MPH --and above ...Expand for more
mark.
My son,James, just graduated from his first year of x-ray tech school with honors and is working at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Hollywood awaiting his next year of training. Very proud of him.
I am living in Pleasant Hill now and would love to catch up with any Del Valle alum.
A few updates. My dear friend, Dave Stochl, has passed away this last week. He will be sorely missed. His memorial is this sat, sept. 12th.
My son is still in school, now at DVC getting some requirements out of the way and living with me.
Just got back from 2 events at Bonneville where our team did very well.Watters/Higgins Racing and our friends at A-Ward Racing set a total of 12 records. My best was a 201 MPH run in the unfaired class. Richard Assen made a 261 MPH run for the fastest pass ever by a sit down bike on the salt. A very successful season so far.
