Jim's Story

Hospice Nurse in Spokane. Wife and 5 kids, 3 dogs, a cat, 3 cockatiels and an African Gray. I had some fish, but the raccoons thought they were at "Uncle Jim's Free Sushi Bar". No more koi. Goldfish taste just as good. I'm always interested in reconnecting with friends. (notice I didn't say OLD friends. 56 is a really big number, huh?) Life is good. Did you know I invented Post-It Notes? Update July 12, 2009: The cat died. I never quite got around to getting fish for the pond this Summer. I've spent about 40 hours working on the pool and about 30 minutes swimming in it so far this Summer. Stepson left for Afghanistan last week, daughter is in Abu Dhabi - Air Force cop. I connected far too briefly with one of our classmates who is now a Hindu goddess. Now THERE'S a story I'd REALLY like to hear. Did you know I lied about the Post-It notes? Biography: 1970: Out of HS I spent the Summer in LA making aircraft parts (747) at a machine shop and working at a gas station. In October Steve and I joined the Army. They made me a medic, and him infantry. I spent time in San Antonio, Valley Forge, Saigon, and El Paso. Got married and started having kids in there somewhere. 1974-'79 school at WSU. Connected some with Ric Daddario, Bill Adamson, Jim & Shirley Brown, Steve Thayer, Steve Blankinship. Worked at nursing homes as an LPN during that time. Also tried selling Shaklee stuff. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! '79 - '91. RN at St. Luke's ER, Holy Family ICU and Valley Hospital ICU.(all in Spokane). Started a bu...Expand for more
siness called "Personal Best/Spokane" - had a speaker's bureau and taught goal-setting and personal development. Was in Toastmasters, JayCees, Chamber of Commerce. Closed that business a few years later. 91-93: Worked at rural hospitals - Ritzville, Grand Coulee, Republic, Davenport, through an agency. '93 to present: Married the right woman (since I couldn't find the Hindu goddess), aquired two stepsons, adopted a new daughter, working at Hospice of Spokane as the after-hours nurse. Started a web design business and ran that for a few years, but 911 really took it's toll on businesses, and 2001 was a crappy year for me personally. I folded the business and continue to work for Hospice. I'm nearly perfect but I continue to smoke along with Laura Bush, Brocko Bomma, and Bill Clinton - though I don't marinate my smokes the way Bill does. I tried landlording. That sucks. Nuff said. I turned the rental over to a management company. Now I like people better. They won't write any books about my life, but it's a good life. I love my family, my country, my job, my God. I spend more time being thankful about what I have than being jealous about what I don't have. That fat lady didn't sing yet. I'm not growing old gracefully. I've still got planes to jump out of and dives to make in exotic locations. There's someone at a Karaoke bar somewhere who will love my song. I just can't fathom my ass strapped to a rocking chair - ever. I finally put a profile on facebook last week. Hey, it's a lotta fun. See you there.
