Jim's Story
OK, I'm a high tech nut...I suppose it all started with an insatiable curiosity with what makes things (and people) tick. I early on figured out that that understanding, mixed in with some creativity, could empower me to make things (and relationships) that go faster, higher, and are more effective. Right out of Engineering school, I went to work for Boeing on the Supersonic Transport Program...I was irreversibly smitten with the computer/airplane bug and it's only gotten worse. I officially retired from Boeing in 2007 and went back as a consultant for a couple of years, but now am launched on my own projects, among which are developing alternative energy and building model ships/cars/planes.
In 1967, I married a fine little lady from California...Hmmm, that means that we'll be celebrating our 45th anniversary this June. We have one daughter who is a busy Physician's Assistant and mother to our 2 superst...Expand for more
ar grandsons. My dad turned 100 last June and, thankfully, his mind is as sharp as ever and he's still enjoying life in Southern California.
20 years ago, I helped launch the high school robotics program in Washington State. What started out as an intensive 1 school pilot in cooperation with MIT has developed into the active involvement of some 40 schools. Now, the annual play-offs are a high adrenaline extravaganza with over 120 teams competing for trophys and scholarships.
I recently had occasion to engage in a protracted conversation in French and was happily surprised to realize that I was reasonably fluent after all these years, thanks to Mary Duggan - I loved her! Several other teachers (like Parke Wright and Delmar King) at Caz were a great inspiration in those years when we were scrambling around for a little knowledge and civilization. Those were good years to be a part of the Cazenovia family.
