Jim's Story

Life I live in Prior Lake on a sort of hobby farm in the middle of the country. Am partly disabled with arthritis so that limits my activity sometimes but not much . I have lived out here for 35 years and love the country life as opposed to the insanity of the city. I lost my first wife to breast cancer in 1990 and have married again in 2011. I had undiagnosed Lyme disease for 7 years but just by chance a new friend of mine who was a medical researcher at the U convinced me to see a specialist there who immediately diagnosed me and put me on antibiotics for months. The symptoms were gone in a year and never came back...........the moral of that story is never believe doctors on their initial diagnosis because half of them are wrong half of the time. Jobs include working for Hennepin County in Personnel Management, including Personnel Director of the Welfare Department, Compensation Director for 10,000 employees(what a challenge) and Personnel Director of the Hennepin County Medical Center. I also was very active in the Lions Club, President of the Twin Cities Spinal Research Group at Fairview and golfed and bowled and traveled alot in the USA. My home is on five acres in the Credi...Expand for more
t River Township part of Scott County. I had an acre of vegetable garden(now reduced to a manageable size) and apple trees and loved snowmobiling. I have a 1969 Chevelle Super Sport 396-350 4sp that I show at cars shows and spend alot of time at Porkys in St Paul on weekends. I also have a major collection of records from the 50s and 60s. I have brothers who have bands in the area and play 50s and 60s music. Also GB Leighton is a relative, so my family is heavily into the music scene. I am also a collector of civil war books and art. The lower level of my house is finished off 50s style with a jukebox, bar, booths swiped from a Country Kitchen that was being demolished:) Used to have parties out here with 300 or more people and live bands live Bands like Gregory Dee and the Avantis and the Chancellors if you remember them- local 60s bands. I also am in the process of collecting American Flyer Electric Trains and am setting up a model railroad in keeping with the 50s style of my basement. I also collect model cars and have them all over my house-cars from the 50s and 60s of course. So that is about it for now!!! I have one son and three grand daughters who live near me in Minnesota
