Life
Did I really fall for it? Did I register to this site? Or worseÂ
I have a MySpace account (yes, I can admit itÂ
go to myspace and postcardsfromthewastelandÂ
the oldest friggin guy on MySpaceÂ
pathetic) Oh, yeah. The bio. (If youÂve read this far, youÂre a glutton for punishment. Congrats.)
After MHS, I went to Adelphi University for General Studies. (translated: lost, no direction, etc.) In 1986, my father died, as some of you may know. He was sick for awhile and his battle had ended.
Met a girl, dated the girlÂ
she left to go home to Delaware, I followed. Attended University of Delaware from 87-89 where I graduated with a BAS in International Relations. (translated: lost, no direction, but now on a global scale). Left the original girl by finding another oneÂ
the better one, who is my bride to this day.
Started working at MBNA credit card doing a variety of things. In 1993, we became engaged at a Bon Jovi concert..(they did it for us, for real..we were on MTV and everything...our 15 minutes, so to speak.)
We moved from DE to Dallas. I left MBNA to get my MBA in International Business. Got the MBA in 1997, and went right back to banking by joining the Associates. Stayed there until 1999 when I moved back to NY as I was recruited by Chase Manhattan in NYC. We lived in Mamaroneck, NY and then north New Jersey. In 2000, my sister Vanessa passed.
In July 2001, my daughter Lauren was born. Two months later, I was at the 9/11 attacksÂ
ugly day, glad to be alive. Long story for another day.
I was then recruited by a small firm in TampaÂ
after 9/11, I was glad for a change of scenery. We were there until 2003Â
was recruited by Barclays Bank whom I work for today just outside of Atlanta, and have a successful career.
IÂm a part-time photographer of models, fashion and glamour alike. I have been published in American Photo, Complete Woman, and Delaware Today. (my work can be seen on my MySpace page.)
I think about life gone by, and how it is today. ...Expand for more
These sites invoke memories and you can only chuckle of what you once were, the mistakes you made, and how you can forgive yourself for the idiocies of youth. (was Billy Squier really cool back then?? *shudder*) I wasnÂt a fan of high schoolÂ
wasnÂt the most popular, didnÂt know how to get in with the cliques to have a better social life, but knew enough not to be one of the burn-outs. Close, anyway.
I forgive the bullies, I thank the girls that paid me a little mind, I salute the teachers that made a difference and made us free thinkers, and I owe a debt to the ones who called themselves my friendsÂ
.if any of you are out there reading this, thanks. In looking through the yearbook I had more friends than I realized. Things people wrote, just their pics alone, it's enough to make you smile to yourself. That's the true impact of a fine human being. It's amazing how 4 years can go so quick but still stay with you because of who they were.
I had a small chance to take a girl I had a crush on to the prom and didnÂt do itÂ
ah, regrets. (She might know who she is, but doubtful.) I was on varsity ski team but never won a raceÂ
go figure. Who would have ever though ultimate Frisbee on the football field after school would mean so much, so many years later? Was it important to be with the in-crowd? Given the people who surrounded me, probably not.
But, itÂs history. There goes youth. And happily so.
If you managed to not fall asleep by this time, shoot me a note and let me know how life has been treating you. I've enjoyed reconnecting with some old friends, and people who I didn't realize were my friends, so that makes this pretty cool. (one woman asked me if my wife knew I was speaking with her...I didn't realize this was a dating service, but whatever. Some people are irrevocably who they are. Oy.)
I hope as you read this, life has treated you well since then and you find yourself and your family, happy and healthy, and itÂs a life well lived.
