Jim's Story
Life
Soon after graduation, I left town, and moved to Colorado, where I was promised a job. The job never panned out, and I ended up working at a Country Kitchen for about 14 months. I was then persuaded to join the military. I was a nuke aboard USS Haddo, SSN 604, and went all over the eastern half of the world, like, the Phillipines, Guam, Hawaii, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Alaska, etc. . I moved back to Wisconsin when I couldn't find a good job in California, and had just as hard a time here. I was going...Expand for more
to be an electrician, but I couldn't get into the apprenticeship program. I ended up working at Schoep's Ice cream as a maintenance worker, hated every minute of it, and quit at my first opportunity. I went back to the Mighty UW Madison, got a degree in chemistry, and a job in the Chemistry building with my own laboratory. It is job that requires me to periodically detonate things, so it has worked out for me. I occasionally appear on television, and in print, and have published a couple of manuscripts.
