Jim's Story
Well, I am in marriage #4. Pati and I live in Midlothian with around 10 dogs (Pati shows dogs). I'm still messing with cars - imagine that. I actually went down a drag strip in December 2020 for the first time since about 1974 and it was not pretty. (but it was a blast!).
I lost wife #3 (Deborah) to cancer in 2011. Wife #2 passed away about a year after our divorce. Mary Lee (#1) still lives in Junction and lost her husband last year. My son Lance lives in Austin. Daughter Candice lives in Ballinger, and youngest Brittany lives in Joplin Missouri and is expecting my 3rd grandchild in September of 2021. (UPDATE: New Grandson Ulrich James Winnett was born in August of 2021 - about 4 weeks early, but is doing well!)
I retired from a career as a manufacturing Engineer in 2016. Live is pretty good considering 12 of our class of 48 are no l...Expand for more
onger with us. Two are in nursing homes and two are battling Alzheimer's. Charles Hagood - always wise beyond his years - reminds me from time to time "there, but for the Grace of God, go I". Puts things into perspective quite well. Looking forward to our reunion since Covid scrapped our actual 50th. We will be celebrating jointly with the class of 71.
UPDATE: Reunion has come and gone, but was a great get-together. Our float won first prize in the yearly parade (it was built on a bass boat, so it was the only float that would actually float. Debbie and Paul Bierschwale hosted both our class and their class at their home and it was great. So good to see so many faces that I had not seen in years - in both classes.
SAD UPDATE: We have lost two more classmates since the reunion! Bobby Adams and Dr. Brandon Lewis. May they rest in peace .
