Jim's Story

Hey Friends, Oh where to begin....it's been a great adventure since graduating from West Side High School what...now 33 years ago ?! Could it really be ? Man, did that time fly. I've been a lot of places over the years, as I'm sure you all have as well, but mostly have lived in Colorado. I'm an avid backpacker so this state is perfect for me and will always be my home. Well, I'm married to a wonderful woman named Julie ( Jules ) and we're going on 22 years in the spring. We have 2 terrific kids, daughter Jade age 15 and son Jordan age 13. They're great students and just my bestest buddies in the world. For all of you who are parents, I think you'll be able to understand that....it brings the best to life, being a dad ! I am an architectural illustrator, you know, the guy who does the artistic renderings of buildings that haven't been built yet. I do mostly large " trophy " homes in the Colorado mountains but have recently been working on a huge development in Hawaii. They fly me over there to hang out every now and then so that's a real treat ! Jules was raised in Hawaii, so it's kinda' like going home. I also paint fine arts watercolor and pastels, mostly landscapes, often working from the photos I bring home from my backpacking trips, as well as on-location sketches. The fine art is mostly just for me....I've sold quite a lot over the years, but it never amounts to much money and certainly not what you could call " making a living ". I'm also still a musician, playing keyboards and drums, with my main fo...Expand for more
cus being the Hammond B-3 organ, just like back in high school. I've toured the country with a Grammy-nominated Reggae band, but let me tell ya' that is not NEARLY as glamorous as some would have you believe ! Up until last year I was still " playing out " in excess of 100 nights a year, but I've recently scaled that back to get more quality family time and concentrate on my architectural work. I spend more time now in my home recording studio and still LOVE all the black ethnic musics, especially Blues, Reggae and Funky Stuff ! I do the illustration thing out of the house so I'm up late at night a lot, either painting watercolor renderings ( often on HEAVY deadlines ) or playing music....thru the ol' headphones of course so I can crank it up without distubing the family. Hey, I'd LOVE to hear from any of you that might remember this kinda' goofy guy from high-school who was way into the music thing. I've been lucky enough to hook up with some old friends recently and it's a real hoot ! Please feel free to drop me an email anytime. I'd love to hear from ya' ! I hope that you are all healthy and happy and that life has been as kind and generous to you as for me. It would be terrific to see what you all have been up to and hear your very interesting stories ! In the meantime, take good care and remember what they said in my favorite line from the movie Thelma and Loiuse.... " You get what you settle for..." ...ain't it the truth !? Peace, Love and All The Best, Jimmy
