Jim's Story
To quote Lou Gehrig,.. "I feel like the luckiest man alive. I love what I do".
For me this is to tell stories with my camera. For the past 30 years I have been privileged to have a front row seat to history. I have been in the Kremlin with Gorbachev, met with every president from Nixon to George W. Bush and in Bruce Springsteen¿s kitchen, sipping Tequila with ¿the Boss.¿
I have captured California wildfires, flooding in the Midwest and hurricanes in the South, including Katrina, and just recently, the earthquake in Haiti. And I have captured the pathos of orphanages in Romania and the grief ...Expand for more
and heroism of New York City in the aftermath of 9/11.
My work is about triumph and excellence too ¿ annual meetings between stellar high school students and U.S. Supreme Court justices, promotional videos for universities such as Princeton and three Olympics (Albertville, France, Lillehammer, Norway and Atlanta.) For places as different as Albertville and Haiti, it no doubt helped that I am fluent in French.
For me, every day I turn on my camera - whether it is for a story big or small ¿ is the start of something fresh and new. I enjoy the story, I enjoy the camaraderie and I enjoy the craft.
