riously untrained parakeet, "Big Bird". My best part of any day is making one (or more) of them happy, and they *try* to keep me centered and living in reality. (sometimes it even works) .
My musical hobby/avocation is like a whole different world, and an intense, busy one (mostly refinishing/maintaining/repairing/building/modifying/trading guitars, working on tube amps, collecting vintage effects and old Fender pedal steel guitars, occasionally gigging, and teaching B-bender (primarily using an Evans Pullstring...IMO the Rolls-Royce of B-string pitch-changers for guitar).
My "real world" career is quite different, but to me nearly as creative. I'm a consultant specializing in coating and waterproofing specifications and troubleshooting problem projects - anything from high rise buildings to manufacturing plants to single family homes. I work on a limited basis due to some nagging (but apparently not deadly) health issues, but am available for projects in the LA/Orange County areas..
