Jim's Story

Life Couldn't wait to graduate from college and leave SD. Then moved back, left, moved back, etc. I decided to stay here where people are/were more honest and friendlier. I expect to stay here after retirement, but travel south during the cold months and shoot trap. School Graduated in 1964, Senior Class President. Have moved away and have decided to come back and STAY in RC to work and retire. College Graduated with an undergraduate degree in mathematic (jr. class prexy) and went to work for the US Atomic Energy Commission in a nuclear weapons lab. Following VietNam, I left there and tried to, unsuccessfully, purchase a new fast-food restaurant in Rapid City. Went back and got another undergraduate degree in Education, started teaching mathematics in Rapid City and adjunct for SDSM&T as well as computer programming for SDSM&T. Started the high school computer networked labs in SHS and RCCHS. Received my master's degree in 78 in school administration. And, following some high school math and computer science teaching, I moved into administration. I have many post-graduate hours in computer science. Was awarded the Nat'l Science Foundation's Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and the Sigma Xi Award for same. I own a small computer networking business here in RC, and am a large distributor for trapshooting equipment in ...Expand for more
the USA and do some expoting. Am a thesis away from Ed.D. (both wife and I are), but will not finish that as I plan to retire from the local school system at the end of this academic year. Was a past national trapshooting champion and 10-year member of the SD All-State Shooting team. Married to Kathy (Sisson) White, who is today at a ranch in Marin County, CA as a guest of Apple Computer Corp. She was selected as the SD Apple Distingusihed Educator ... in Apples of all things. I am an old DOS dinosaur, but have moved on to XP and 2000. (What happened to Novell???). Kathy is an Instructional Technology Specialist in the RCAS system. Have two children; Kristin, a junior at St. Olaf in MN, and son Michael (6'6") a senior at Stevens High School. Don't know what you folks want to do for the 40th, but we're just starting to get a committee together. Heard someone has already started planning something, but the 30th committee (working to start the 40th) has no clue how this is. Jim "Whiz" White Workplace I own a small business involved in several different areas from computer and networking to exporting specialized trapshooting equipment. I am a Federal ammo distributor because of my involvement in ATA trapshooting. My hobbies include computers, of course, wood-working and now I have a metal lathe and am teaching myself how to make useless items.
