Jim's Story
After graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in speech communications and journalism, Jim worked for 10 years as a journalist with the Belleville News-Democrat. Jim left Belleville in 1986 to move to Denver, where he worked for Quark software publishing and then Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.
Jim joined RIESTER Advertising and Public Relations in 2003 and dramatically enhanced public relations services provided to the firm¿s clients located in the Rocky Mountain region. In fact, his work for the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, Louisiana Department of Health, and Utah Methamphetamine Task Force resulted in some of the most effective social marketing campaigns developed in the United States.

and worked as editorial manager for several news publications. Jim¿s public relations experience includes serving as editorial counsel and media relations strategist to companies in the technology, consumer products and public affairs sectors. In addition to Jim¿s proven writing skills, his areas of expertise include message development, media training, media relations and press material development. Jim has secured media coverage for clients with such diverse media outlets as NBC¿s ¿TODAY Show,¿ ESPN Radio, The New York Times, The Salt Lake Tribune, The Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post, as well as numerous local broadcast television and radio stations and industry trade publications.
Jim currently splits his time between Denver and Salt Lake City working on a wide variety of RIESTER clients, as well as managing clients on a contract basis from his home office in Denver.
