Jim's Story
I left Arizona in 1969 to attend Oklahoma State University where I received a Masters in Livestock Marketing and PhD in Environmental Economics. First job was with USDA in Washington, D.C. (what a mistake) from there I went to the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas to work for Texas A&M at their Weslaco Research and Education Center.
In 1979 I moved to Clemson, South Carolina. Retiring in 2003. While at Clemson I taught livestock marketing, futures and options, alternative agricultural enterprises and production economics. This was a very rewarding experience that provided me with a wealth of economic realism and an incite into people. Would not have traded it for anything.
I am married to a wonderful and very tolerant lady. She is my life and I am very lucky to have snagged her. We have three boys. In addition to the boys, we have three dogs, one cat, fish and (as my wife says) too damn many cows.
I have been a Simmental producer for over thirty years. This is my passion. We show cattle (winning many times). I use embryo transfer and artifical insemmation. And, actually sell some. HIGH FUEL and CORN PRICES are a pain in the BUTT.
