Jim's Story

Life - Attended RIT and studied Photography and Graphic Design - Left Rochester in 1984 to join a startup in Boston (Lightspeed) where we developed computer-based Graphic Design systems for the publishing industry - sold the company to a large UK publishing vendor. Got married in 1986 and had my first daughter, Ally, in 1988. First big house renovation. - Moved to California in 1988 to join Apple Computer - ran a number of software and imaging peripheral businesses - started up a number of new businesses as well. Got divorced in 1991 - have had joint custody of my daughter ever since. - Moved BACK to Rochester in 1995 after being recruited to help with Kodak's digital imaging business. an into Alice (Mardo) Kessler and Mary Falleson at Kodak! Got married for the second (and last) time in 1995. Second big house renovation (a beautiful 1897 house off Park Ave.) - Moved back to California in 1997 to build a new business incubator for Kodak focused on Entertainment Imaging - spun out ~$40M in new business and a dozen or so patents. Third big house renovation (becoming a hobby by now). - Started Tangibility, Inc. in 1999 to consult with the many startups in silicon valley - focus was (and is) new product/service businesses and business re-starts. Still going strong in our 7th year! - Had my son, Ethan, in 2000 and my second daughter, Kate, in 2002. Being a parent the second time around is a bit more relaxing - but still without sleep...
