Jim's Story

So since I graduated from Madras High................ Started at Linfield College in Sept 1964. Transfered to the University of Portland in Sept of 1965. Graduated with a BA in business in June of 1968. My parents sold the family ranch in Antelope in 1965, so I ended up living in Portland. After graduating from U of P, I worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Multnomah County for a short time and then moved on to work for the federal government as a Special Agent for several years. When I left the federal government I went into private business, first with partners and then on my own. My brother-in-law, Mike Funk (class of 1966) and I were partners for a while, until he moved his family to Culver. Married in 1968. Have a grown daughter and the greatest grandson around. Spent all of these years living in the Portland area except for a few months in Was...Expand for more
hington DC. DC is'nt a place I would pick to live, but it is very interesting with all the museums and revolutionary and civil war battlefields to visit. I recommend everyone visit Gettysburg at least. All those things that Mr. Lever taught us in US History class really come to life when you visit the battlefields. Have traveled (on business) to most of the United States, but there really is no place quite like Oregon. I visit central Oregon frequently now as Mom, Mike and my nephew Chris are living in Culver. As many of you probably know, we lost my sister Linda (class of 1966) a few years ago. I am still active in business here in the valley, but have hopes of moving back to the Madras area in the next few years. Must be true that "you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy". jim4812 at Yahoo dot com.
