Jimmy's Story
Life
I manage the Shell convenience store in Mahomet, IL. I have been with the company sixteen years now, and have loved every minute of it. I moved up to district manager for about a year, and decided to get back to just managing. I missed goofing off at work with the regular customers and employees and had to get back to the "face to face" aspect of the business.
I am more a joker than I am serious. The first thing my new employees are told is "Don't believe a word Jimmy tells you." I am married, have three children, and live in Mahomet with my family in an old house we bought to fix up. Drop in and gas up some time if you are in my neighborhood and chat. We buy and sell lots on Ebay, especially my old paper items I have accumulated my whole life. I am looking to hear from all the people I haven't seen in 25 years.
In my spare time I can be found at the old gravel pit in Mahomet. I fish there and walk the trails keeping them clean and safe. I have caught a couple nice fish there. Of course I put them right back after get...Expand for more
ing a pic. I bought a 17 ft aluminum canoe this year but haven't had it out there yet since I can't swim. I bought it after the "inflatable raft" I bought at a garage sale turned out to be an inflatable twin size mattress. The raft on the box was a really nice one, so I should have known $10 was too good to be true. My big fish- 17 pound carp and 13 pound catfish.
I have found the love of my life now, but in between my three marriages, I have enjoyed life. Life has been normal for ten years now. I think I am just settling down.
Workplace
I love my job. It brings me in contact with a thousand people a day and I talk to all of them. (and goof off with most of them). I will stay here as long as it is fun and rewarding. I covered the city council meetings in Mahomet for the local newspapers for a couple years. That was a long time ambition, to work for a newspaper. Lots of fun. I have a few goals yet to attain in life, I am sure, but I don't know what they are, besides just living to be really old and senile. (I am halfway there on both.)
