Josephine's Story
Went to USC for my undergrad to become something special, but fell in love with theater all over again so became a very un-special hungry, out of work actor instead. Did a stint in London which gave me a life-long travel bug, and then moved to NYC. Loved it, and paid the bills by working as an editor for an engineering magazine. Engineers come from everywhere, of course, which lead me to discover teaching English as a foreign language. That career shift took me to Japan, where I lived for seven years. Met the man of my dreams there (imagine, meeting a Canadian at and Irish bar in Tokyo) and broke all my life-long vow to remain a single, independent ...Expand for more
woman without a man-care. Ha!...best promise I ever broke. Bill and I eventually headed to the States to work on our master's degrees, and then promptly left for Morocco, my most favorite country to date (though the seven day camel-trek across the desert was a bit much!). Now am living in Abu Dhabi (not far from Dubai) in the UAE. It's a newly developing country that's changing fast. Forty years ago it was all camels & tribal warfare, but black gold changed all that. Now it's a thriving country with so much building going on there's a world-wide shortage of cranes. I feel like I live in a great big sea-side shopping mall. So far, life's been grand.
