Jo's Story

I am living in Mississippi and have for 29 yrs. My family is from here so it wasn't some weird act of fate I ended up here. Visited here all my life. My mother moved back here to look after her mother and my sister and I eventually moved back this way also. We got really tired of all the traffic and all in California. Unfortunaltely my sister got breast cancer and passed away in 1996. She left a 3 yr old daughter. Sure miss my best friend. I met my husband here and we were together for 13 yrs but we grew apart. I lived in the country and had a couple acres, 2 horses (which wouldn't surprise people that knew me. Had horses when I lived in TO). I do not have any children but I do have lots of dogs. It seems I cannot let one go that needs a home. Three are from the shelter, one was dropped off at my house, two, a girlfriend of mine here in MS died suddenly of a stroke and I took in her dogs for her family. The latest one, a family was having to move and could not take their pet and were going to have their Lab euthanized instead of just moving off and leaving him. The local vet called me and asked if I would please take him. I did. I thought I would find him a nice home because I already had 7. Guess who is still here? So I have (3) labs, (3) husky (1) black & white Beagle and (1) white mixed breed. All my dogs are gorgeous and so sweet. I worked for the fire Department for a while when I first moved here and when I was a LOT younger too. We have Casinos here so that is where I am currently working now. I moved closer to my mothe...Expand for more
r when she needed heart surgery and had my father to move here so I could look after him too. He is 86 now and is in Assisted Living. Both doing well. So I am the caretaker of my parents and blessed to have them both still here.Update: Dad passed away in 2009. I have been back to TO to visit a couple times since I moved. Man it has changed. The Janss Mall is Gone! It is completely remodeled and I didn't recognize my old stomping grounds. Millers Outpost, Rex's Toytown, Gallenkamps..... all gone. The face of TO has changed but if you go back to the old neighborhoods, they look the same. a little older but the same. Moorpark! Well didn't recognize it at all!!! So much growth in TO. That is why I like it here. Very Rural still. Pretty and green. Lots of trees but, very hot and humid in the summer. UGH! Can't have it all. When my parents are gone, I will move from here. Always loved the Mountains. Not sure where I will end up but I will let you know. For sure it will have room for my animal family. Love to all.... Jo (Sunderland) Woods Updates: Have gotten back in touch with quite a few of my high school buddies through Facebook. So lucky to hear from them again. Ones I had been looking for are found except a few. I have decided to Full time RV when mom is gone. Looks like a life I would like. Friends of mine are doing it and love it. That way I can go to TO and visit as long as I want and not cost me half a "MiL" to do it. Jim Havins.....Roger Rude is looking for you as well as me. You have disappeared. Please get back in touch.
