Joan's Story
Life
After Mercy I attended Ill State Teachers College - South for one year then transferred to Northern Ill Univ. Changed majors several times. Pledged Alpha Phi Sorority my junior year. Met my future husband, Neal, on a blind date at Bradley Univ. where Neal graduated in 1970. I left school at the end of my junior year and went to work at First Nat'l Bank of Chicago in the Trust Dept. Neal and I married July 1970. Had two boys, '71 and '73. Neal's job with U.S. GAO took us to Frankfurt, West Germany '74-'78. Returned to Washington, DC area. Went to work as a school se...Expand for more
cretary for 5 years, then a non-profit for 3 years. Began working with a Northern VA Bank that eventually evolved into Bank of America. "Retired" in 2002. Became a Nana in 1999. We now have 2 grandsons...best role EVER! Neal retired in 2004. We have lived in Virginia Beach, VA since 1995 and plan on staying for awhile. I am involved with the Council of Garden Clubs of Virginia Beach as well as a member of my neighborhood's Garden Club. My other hobbies are golf and genealogy. Time flies when you are having a good time!
