Joan's Story
Life
After graduation from LWHS, I attended FAU for a while, where I met my first husband and my future career. I was a music major, but took a course in Fortran programming. That, as they say, was history, and I have been in computers since 1970. It took me 15 years to finish my bachelors program. I got my degree in '83 from Nova. I kept the career, but ditched the husband in '73. In '78, when we had our 10-year class reunion, I brought Paul, the man who became my 2nd husband in '80. e the boys and it was getting too crowded, so we headed for the hills of Tennessee. I live about 45 miles northwest of Chattanooga, which is where we both work at different insurance companies. I have survived the death of my parents and a bout with breast cancer and am now trying to survive having three teenage sons. Living with four males is sometimes a trial, but never boring! We have been building a log house for the last four years, doing much of the work ourselves. I get back to West Palm once a year to see my brother. I like visiting, but am always glad to get back to my country life.
