Joni's Story
The week after I turned 50, my friend asked me to be her maid of honor. It was the first time I'd ever been asked to serve in this role and I was honored.
My daughter helped me put together the shower at a small family-owned Italian restaurant. We did all the decorating and ordered a phenomenal cake from julia's. The food was fantastic and we played lots of fun games.
The photo above shows Rose (at left opening one of her gifts while I helped keep track of who gave her what. My daughter wrote down everything Rose said and read it back to her later in a naughty tone.
Good times!
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I love to eat at one of the great new ethnic restaurants that have opened up in the Milford/New Haven area. Also like to hike and geocache for relaxation.
One wild thing I did in high school was to orga...Expand for more
nize the boycott of the cafeteria. They had raised the milk and we were all upset. So we went around and told everyone not to buy lunch the following day. Soon word got through the school that there was going to be a boycott. The next day at lunch, there was only one person getting lunch and she had been given money by a teacher to go up there. She was the only person to buy lunch.
The nuns were furious and threatened to take away the senior and junior proms and the freshman pop hop. We were sophomores so we had nothing to los. But we didn't want our friends to suffer so we had to admit that it was our idea, and then we had to call it off.
Even though they technically "won" they knew at that point that we were on to their tactics and would not get fooled again!
Good old St. Edmund's!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have freedom, flexibility, and fellowship to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
