Joan's Story
I've got 4 kiddos, 3 boys, 1 princess. They are my life. Oldest currently serving the USN in Japan. Second son grappling with the idea of supporting himself after graduating from high school (hey--we're just glad he graduated!). Son #3 setting his sights on a fire sciences degree when he graduates high school this year, wanting to become a fire fighter. The princess...well, she just smiles a lot and does her best in first grade...and that's enough for me!
I keep busy being their mom, as well as surrogate mom to son #3's best friend (who needed to place to stay a couple years ago and never left), as well as working from home for an awesome medical clinic, and keeping up with extended family activities.
UPDATE 07.08: Son #1 (Dustin) has been discharged from the Navy, having completed his enlistment, now facing the arduous task of figuring out what to do with 5 years' military experience...starting over.
Son #2 (Cody) has successfully moved out of his mom's house and...well, we're not sure EXACTLY where he's moved to, but know he's in close proximity t...Expand for more
o Crystal Pier, working in the Pacific Beach community and trying to get a start in the tattoo business. For now, working on his art portfolio and soaking up the California sun.
Son #3 (Zachary) earned a scholarship which he is applying towards a Fire Science degree, taking classes at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, preparing to join the Chandler Fire Cadets and get his feet wet in the biz. He's going to be an outstanding fireman before we know it!
The Princess (Hayleigh) had a stellar year in First Grade, and begins Second in July.
Our tag-on family member (Justin), earned a football scholarship to a Colorado university, where he'll be heading at the beginning of August.
I'm just trying to keep tabs on all the immediate transitions, and an eye on future ones, practicing the art of being flexible enough to bend so that we don't all break! ...which is more than I can say for my brittle bones, which break more times than I can count, the most recent one being the only reason I have time to sit here (can't hop too far on 1 foot) and update my profile!
