Joan's Story
I married for the first time in 1983 after teaching school for 11 years in Kent, WA and managing a Christian Book Store for 7 years in Coeur d"Alene, ID. It was a first marriage for both of us and it has been a delightful 27 years!!!! It was definitely worth the wait (although, I was wondering for awhile, if I would ever find Mr. Right) We share so many things in common and enjoy whatever we do together. We love to travel, go camping, do yard work, go huckleberry picking in the mountains of Idaho, spend time with family and friends, work with youth in our church, study the Bible, help others, etc. We owned and operated an Antique and Collectibles store for 14 years and had quite an inventory of used Christian books (over 10,000!). It was challenging and fun, at the same time. We met so many wonderful people. Now ...Expand for more
that we are semi-retired, we have been blessed to travel to Bogota, Colombia three times to help in a Christian school and home for children (kinda like an orphanage). We have a dear friend who is a missionary there and so we get to help in the classroom, encourage the kids, shower them with love and provide a listening ear. My husband helps with repairs around the school and we feel so privileged to have this experience on an ongoing basis. We hope to go again, soon. We support three of the children in the school. There is some danger where we visit, but we feel safe in God's care.
These are a few highlights of my life, so far. God has been so good to me and I thank Him for His great salvation through a personal relationship with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. By grace are we saved, through faith. Ephesians 2:8,9
