Joan's Story
After graduating, I attended a business college, then worked as a Veterinary receptionist until my son was born. I stayed at home with him and then had my daughter. When my daughter was enrolled in Head Start, I became a volunteer with their program and stayed after she moved onto kindergarten. After 6 years, I got a paying job with them and was quickly promoted to the position of Family Service Worker. It was my passion and salvation working with so many wonderful families. met my current husband in 2016 and was lucky enough to be able to stay home and enjoy working at making our house a home. Our Head Start program had lost their grant and I was suddenly employed by a grantee that just didn't seem to have the same passion for the program. My son is a logistics manager and was active duty Air Force for 8 years and is in his 6th year in Air Force Reserves. He has a wonderful wife named Loni. My daughter is a mother of two. She has two daughters of her own who are 11 and 14. She manages at home while working and is doing a great job. Her husband Matt is a great addition to her life. Overall, I have a very blessed life!
