Joan's Story

Dayton and I just celebrated out 50th. Anniversay; and our Mom's said it wouldn't last! Each year I always thought it was the "best time" but currently, this is the best time of all. Dayton and I took up dancing about five years ago (Salsa, swing/rumba/bachata/ballroom/etc.. We are now dancing at least 10 nights a month, at least two hours each time. I am also doing Zumba 3x a wwk for 60 min. with the 20-50yr.olds. Luckily we are both in excellent heath and we are both still working full time. Both of us have offices on different levels of the house and the secretary arrives here at 8 every morning. As we both work for ourselves in different businesses, we can set our own hours. We moved to the Chicago area in 1973 and love it here. We built a house in the same neighborhood in 1991 and love the privacy and the view of deer, fox, coyotes, racoons. It is a very wooded two acres with no gras...Expand for more
s and the private neighborhood lake is across the street. We are about 40min. NW of O"Hare. For the last 18yrs. we have been driving back to Detroit for a grade school reunion each year. And every five years we are invited to the Denby Reunion at a resort in Port Huron for three days. The only thing about aging is losing many in our family and also our classmates and friends. I don't think anyone prepares you for these loses and whoever put forth the idea of "closure" is an idiot in my opinion.Bet they didn't go to Cass! It is surprizing to me that I have now been working as a Realtor since 1973; since 1983 with Re?max. The good part is that I now only work with referrals and people that I like! It is still enjoyable and a challange. Dayton started his own company about 15years ago and brokers chemicals/equiptment mostly to Asia. He makes 2 trips there a year. And yes I sometimes go along.
