Joan's Story
Just want to add since it wasn't part of the Q&A that I have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren.
The pets are granddogs and grandhorses.
I always wanted to be a scientist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were never to know.
Born in NY. Grew up in Miami, followed by a move to Gainesville for University, Baltimore to work (teach high school English) while husband Ronnie was in Dental School, and then to Jacksonville in 1966 where we've been ever since.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the master bathroom and add on a jacuzzi. I already have my dream home.
I would love to see Ms. Lovelace.....but unfortunately I believe she is no longer with us. She was my first chemistry teacher and gave me a great start and love for the sciences.
Lived in Mallory Hall at UF and then in the DPhiE sorority house.

en I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ancient. I was so completely naive.
I share my home with Ronnie, which I find fantastic.
What everyone at our reunion would be surprised about is if I remembered them. I've blanked out most of those 3 years.
My first job was at Milford Mill High School, where I got paid $4500 to teach English. What I remember most about it is that I loved the kids and couldn't stand the teachers..
My first day at Ponce de Leon Jr. High.....We had been in Miami a total of 3 days. I got off the school bus thinking I was near home but was totally lost. This is before the days of cell phones. I must have walked 10 miles trying to find our new home. It was almost dark, my parents were frantic, but I made it.
If it weren't for the "Story Wizard" this would have been a lot shorter.
