Joan's Story

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington. After graduating from Roosevelt High School I attended Western Washington University (as it’s known today). From Western I worked for Pacific Northwest Bell in their engineering department. While working there I married Larry Overholt (who I met through mutual friends at Western) and we are still celebrating life together. Larry’s job took us from Seattle to Long Beach, CA., Sydney, Australia, San Diego, CA., Houston, Texas then back to Seattle. I took a break from working during these job opportunities to p...Expand for more
lay homemaker enjoying our four kids. Once back in Seattle I started working for The Boeing Company in 1978. Boeing offered me some great opportunities too and I ended up retiring after 32 years there as a Payloads Engineering Manager for the wide body programs in Everett, WA. We now have a home on the beach near the ferry in Clinton, WA. When we’re not traveling in to watch our six grandchildren play some outstanding sports, we get to watch all the activities on the water, eat fresh caught crab from out front of our home and enjoy retirement life.

Snuck up on my granddaughter Hailey while she was enjoying the Cabo sun. The waves were huge, no swimming today in the ocean.
Enjoyed watching my grandson sign and sing with his little buddy and special friends as he spent the week volunteering at Forest Park with Camp PROV. A great learning experience for a teenager.
Here’s my daughter Debbie to the rescue. Woman took the corner too wide and ended in the ditch. She’s so lucky Deb was here helping to put our boat away for the winter or it would be tow truck time $$$.
