Joan's Story
Life
After graduation, went to work as secretary in Marine Midland Bank's Collection Department (right next door to the Varsity). Married John "Jack" Fitch that following August. Have four children and eight grandchildren. Achieved Cortland County Secretary of the Year in 1979; former President of Professional Secretaries International, Cortland Chapter.
Own our home & income property in McGraw. Live with our toy poodle, Teddy, and Yorkie, Mia. Have cruised the Carribean; vacationed for 23 years in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Took up camping again in 2005 after a 30-year hiatus. Work from home office as Recording Secretary for both Planning Boards and Zoning Boards of Appeal for the Towns of Cortlandville, Virgil, Groton and Village of Homer.

2005, after 18 years of service; he then retired from Atlantic Testing Laboratories (Binghamton) at the end of 2006. Me?? Not retiring. Since 1983, I've owned my own business, Part-Time Secretary, specializing in municipal minutes. Currently steno for eight municipal boards (Planning and Zoning). Attend meetings (in the evening), take the minutes, and transcribe them in my home office. Occasionally receive requests to do public hearings.
Presently serve as Secretary to the Cortland County Republican Committee, President of the Cortland County Republican Women's Club, and Church Secretary for the McGraw United Methodist Church. Member of Marathon Area Historical Society (where I lived from birth to 1954), and serve as Chair of their Publications Committee for their quarterly newsletter.
