Joan's Story
Life
I grew up in Union,N.J.,attended Kawameeh Jr High, graduated Union, High in 1965, and atteded Salem College, in Clarksburg West Va.(1965-1967). Started working for New Jersey Bell in June,1967 in Summit N.J. I worked in various locations for the comp. After Summit I worked in Union, on Rahway Av, was promoted in 1986, worked in Hopelawn, then back to Union, then to Cedar Knolls,back to Union and then back to Cedar Knolls, and finally to North Brunswick for my last 7 yrs the company has now become Verizon. I retired in 2003 after completing 36years of service.
I am now enjoying being retired and working on my house and gardens. My 2 labrador retv. also enjoy my being home more...Expand for more
. I got married to Rick ( we dated thru high school) in Sept of 1970 and this year we are celebrating our 39th anniv.
Workplace
When I started working for New Jersey Bell in June,1967 in Sunnit ,N.J. it was as a records clerk in the Assignment dept, then I was promoted to an Exchangelayout assigner in 1969, then moved to Rahway Av, Union in 1978, then in 1986 I was promoted to superviser in the Assignment bur in Hopelawn then back to Union for 2 years, then to the Facs Bur in Cedar knolls for 3 yrs, then to an Engineer back in Union, then moved to Cedar Knolls as an Engineer and then in 1996 to North Brunswick in the same position until 2003 when I retired after36yrs of service.
