Joan's Story
Somehow I landed in Idyllwild, a small mountain town near Palm Springs, where I run vacation rental cabins and raise my two daughters. I expect most of you are done with that, but mine are 11 and 14-going-on-19. Nobody in this family dates until I master 6th grade math, that's definite.

hen adoption struck not once, but twice, leading me to China in various capacities: mother, obviously, and also a founding member of Half the Sky Foundation, a group of adoptive parents who have established nanny care and preschools in several orphanages.
One thing I never wanted to be was a single mom, but it's working out just fine. Never say never: She'll laugh and send you right on down that road.
