Joan's Story
Hi everyone from the class of '58,
On our second meeting, Eugene Lee and I walked around the school looking at the ball field and admiring the new bleachers. I can remember going to the football games, (not into baseball!) on Friday evenings and having a great time cheering for our team, even if they didn't win! It's all about the support for your school. Since it was a school day, there were students milling about and wondering who those two "old people" were on school grounds. :-)
After spending time walking on school grounds, we walked over to McFarland and looked at the improvements to the grounds. We liked the tennis courts. Too bad we didn't bring our rackets with us! We walked to the library and went inside, and wow,,, that hasn't changed a bit,,, just the people! We did another walk to our respective homes. Mine on second st. and his on 19th st. Both long walks, but great to see the changes - especially how tall the trees have grown. Not much change to both homes, but there was a huge sculpture of a chicken in the front yard where Eugene used to live... Hmm. It was fun exploring the old neighborhoods again and who knows, we may go back to see the renovations to RHS. The school was to be totally gutted and everything new inside. Time will tell.
Warm regards to all!
Joan
Hi classmates,
Just a short note to say hello to all my classmates of RHS '58. With the start of a new year, I guess I'm like most other people in resolving to be more healthy, exercise more and volunteer in areas I'm interested. Picked u...Expand for more
p a new hobby of crocheting and am enjoying it immensely! Much to their dismay, some of my friends have been on the receiving end of my projects! Even though they didn't object, they were wondering what they were going to do with the afghans, scarves and doilies they received!! ð Hah! They were too gracious! So,,, I will back off on,the crochet projects this year. Hmmm, maybe pottery??
Got tired of looking at my boring floors last year, so I had the old carpeting ripped up and flooring installed in the living areas and new, more durable carpeting in both bedrooms. Not sure what my next project will be..... Maybe painting and organizing the garage.
Well dear friends, take good care and stay healthy this year, and if they are calling for snow in your area this weekend, stay safe and light a fire in the fireplace (if you have one). I know, cocoa with mini marshmallows!! ðð
Warmest regards to all,
Joan
Well, here it is a few years later and after another stint going back to work, am finally retired ,, for good. The sad news is, is that my middle daughter, Karen, passed away in 2016. I miss her very much, but I know she is enjoying being with the Lord in a much better place than here.
The good news is that I met the man of my dreams last year and we are getting married in a couple of weeks! So happy! 😃. Never thought it possible for me, but you never know what’s going to be around the next corner. Like me, he was widowed too.
Well, dear friends, I hope you have a great summer and try to stay cool.
